This one day session is
connected to two other sessions, Number Sense Routines and Fluency and
Maintenance. Together these three sessions detail the components of an
effective K-5 math block. This session highlights the Core Instruction of a
Math Block. Together we will explore what Whole-Group Math Instruction and
Gradual Release of Responsibility are, the critical stages of learning
mathematics, and what instruction (and the math block) look like when we
attend to each stage. What is Gradual Release of Responsibility and how does
it impact student success in mathematics?
